Beautiful Fitzroy Studio
Although I am fairly comfortable with a pen or pencil in my hand, I get a little scared and a little nervous when I hold a paint brush.  I did my training in a commercial art environment, I studied graphic design many moons ago and later on trained in illustration and drawing.  I have pretty much taught myself any skills I have picked up, when it comes to the fine arts.

With all that in mind I decided to have a go at learning a little more about painting. Once a week I have been going to a painting course in Fitzroy through www.fitzroypainting.com run by Adriane Stramp. The environment is wonderful - a big, beautiful old studio at the top of winding stairs in an Edwardian building on Brunswick Street,  in Melbourne. So far I have learnt so much about mixing paints, colour themes, tones and shades. I have had a go at painting a few still life set ups and a self portrait in acrylic and for the next chapter I think I am going to learn to work in oils which feels so far out of my comfort zone but I am loving it! Learning is so exciting.
