Lots of new goodies

Image
It has taken a while but at last we have been able to upload lots of new goodies, including these lovely tags and wrapping paper into our etsy store . We are so very pleased with our brand new stationery range which we have designed, produced and packaged all in our Melbourne studio. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

From my studio - abstract work

Image
I could spend hours loosing my self in a world of colour and ink in my studio making happy abstract messy paintings.  Here are some pieces I  have been working on. These pieces will eventually make their way to our etys shop as archival quality art prints but I am just too busy having fun with my brushes right now!

Brand New Paper Packs

Image
Our lovely paper packs - can be found in our  etsy store We have brand new wonderful Paper Packs all ready to go in our etsy store . Our love for vintage paper runs long and deep. Here at Sweet William we are endlessly rummaging through second hand book shops, markets, thrift shops, charity shops, garage sales - always on the search for beautiful old treasures that no one loves. Then we transform our finds into these exciting packages - filled to the brim with paper goodness, ready for you to make what ever you want with them - cards, scrapbooks, collage, artwork. We are passionate about these packs and love the idea of sharing our sometimes obsessive passion with other paper lovers. Each Sweet William mixed paper pack is an intriguing collection of vintage ephemera and papers, which will include at least 25 pieces of : lovely old children's book images, postage stamps, illustrations, old playing cards, postcards, fine papers, labels, vintage wall paper, paper ...

City Mob feature in South Africa

Image
We are very excited about   City Mob  (based in South Africa) for featuring Sweet William and offering a wide range of our prints as A2 size posters at a brilliant price! Wahoo, largest size we have ever had our images printed - hurry, on sale for 10 days only! My sister and I are from South Africa originally and so it was always our wish to be able to sell our work in our homeland. This was made possible by my sister in law who lives in CapeTown, who owns a small creative business called Fronella Design Delights   and who now distributes our range in South Africa. We are also very excited about the fact that a percentage of all these sales go to a South African children's charity called True North -   Little Too Much . Very happy with all of that!

Brilliant new price on A3 posters!

Image
We are super duper excited about our A3 size posters ! These are of original pen and ink drawing done by myself, Paula Mills. The A3 posters are printed on a high quality, recycled, matt paper using vegetable based inks. The actual artwork measures 420mm x 297mm.(16.5x11.7 inches) and fits perfectly into the Ikea Ribba 40x50 cm frame plus mount (as pictured in first shot). There are six designs to choose from in the poster range .  We do a bigger print run on the posters therefore we are able to offer them at a brilliant price! YAY!

New Bright Geometric Sweet William Prints

Image
I think one of the challenges of an artist or illustrator is working out your own 'personal style'.  Finding a style that feels comfortable and that comes easily, is quite a challenge. Then, just when you feel you are settling into something which you can claim as your own  - wham! A whole new direction comes along! I suppose it is good to embrace change and never stagnate. I do love a bit of diversity. I have been very inspired by all the bright colours, clean geometric shapes and graphics that are around at the moment. (Check out Marimekko's website for a big dose of bright poppy graphics - amazing!) While I have always been drawn to colour and pattern, have dabbled with a bit of collage and abstract work, I will admit that these four pieces of work are quite different to anything else I have done...but I am still happy for them to sit amongst the rest of the Sweet William creations because at the end of the day they are still unique to me. I hope you enjoy...

I am loving crystals and minerals

Image
My mini mineral collection I am loving all things crystal and minral at the moment as well as coloured glass. I think it brings out the kid in us - looking for treasures in the earth...At my local farmers market the other day I bought a few little mineral rocks from a scratch patch bowl  - such fun and they have made an instant mini collection. All links to these images can be found in my pinterest likes here or in a pinterest board here . Link with love. P x

New work

Image
The first two prints are dedicated to my favourite band - I am a huge Mumford and Sons fan! I could listen to their music non stop for hours. I find their music very inspiring, the lyrics are deep and moving. I had the the privilege of seeing them perform live in Melbourne and I have been meaning to put together these prints for ages. Awake my soul is just a brilliant song and the other print is entitled Grace, which goes to the lyric: 'grace on her heart and flowers in her hair' ....beautiful. The other two prints are pieces of work that have been hanging around my studio for awhile now and so I am glad I have finally committed them to paper. These prints are for sale in our Etsy shop. Happy Friday to you all!

Sweet William Stall set up

Image
That's me, Paula, at my Sweet William stall in Melbourne These beautiful photographs were taken by the very talented Tigs Macallan . They are of the Sweet William stall set up at Finders Keepers in Melbourne. Setting up a stall can be just as much fun (and hard work) as creating the art work! I love it and I am so happy with these shots. You can view more shots over on my flickr stream  here .
