Protea Painting

Image
I have been painting in acrylic more and more lately, which I love - and bigger too! I am considering putting together a body of work for a small exhibition of works on canvas - which feels so new, exciting and scary to me! But we just have to keep pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones, don't we? The image above is of one of my larger paintings "Pink Protea Painting" with a some of my smaller pieces along side it, all hanging above my blue couch in my living room.

Brand new work!

Sweet William has a brand new range of art prints now available online - here  . I have had lots of fun putting this range together - enjoying pattern, colour, texture and an inky illustrative style. If you live in Melbourne, pop in and see this new work at Markit on Sunday the 8th of May.

My home in the Herald Sun Home magazine

Image
My home was featured in the Melbourne Herald Sun Home Magazine on the 19th of April but I was away in CapeTown at the time (murphy's) so it was very nice to come home to see the feature in person  and I was very flattered to see it made the front page! I have found a link to the article online here . Photos by Chris Groenhout.

Preparing my home for a shoot

Image
My DIY white painted floorboards There is nothing quite like knowing your home is going to be photographed to get it all tidied up! My husband was away and I had four days notice but I really wanted to spruce up my floors  - so, off I went to Bunnings, bought some white floor board paint and re did the floors over two evening while the kids were in bed...I was very pleased with the results and amazed at how easy it was! The shoot went well with photographer Armelle Habib and stylist Heather Nette King and I now have a tidy, fresh looking home! Yay! I will post about the publication when it goes live. Here are some shots I took on the day of how it all went.

Things around my home

Image
I recently purchased a new couch for our lounge - it is a turquoise velvet Chesterfield and I love it! We had a dark brown leather couch for ages, which was handy with very young kids in the house, but now that my children are old enough to mind where their dirty feet are going...I thought I would splash out on something I love! I have also had lots of fun filling my new couch with beautiful cushions. Now the only bit I have to worry about is stopping Bella the pugalier from jumping up on it! All these images can be found on my pinterest board and my instagram feed .

Loving the blues

Image
I picked up the March Elle Decoration UK (my all time favourite interiors magazine) the other day and noticed how much wonderful blue is being featured at the moment. Here are some inspiring images featuring all the beautiful shades of blue with lots of pattern and colour. Blue is such a calming colour, I wonder if I could have a deep turquoise wall somewhere in my home? Hmmm, I am going to have a serious think about it. All links to these images can be found on my pinterest board, except the first two, which are from the March issue of Elle Decoration UK.

Flea market finds and collections

Image
My vintage glass jar collection above and below A  lovely cup to add to my Royalty collection  New finds - porcelaine dolls head and more vintage wooden rulers As mentioned in my previous post, I went off to Camberwell market on the weekend, which was completely rained out but I did mange to pick up one or two lovely pieces to add to my flea market find collections. I am loving old glass bottles at the moment and vintage rulers. I also picked up the porcelain dolls head - which I love for it's cute creepiness! Plus the Queeny cup, which looks great in my bathroom. I go through phases of collecting things - there is some thing strangely satisfying about putting groups of similar objects together...does any one else like to collect? What do you collect? I suppose it was a good thing Camberwell market was rained out as I may have come home with a lot more!

New house update - picture wall completed

Image
The next part of the house that is being sorted out is the living area. There is a lot going on in this space, we have the pink dinning table, my computer and some storage cupboards which is all open plan onto the lounge and kitchen. Non the less we still felt excited about putting together a group of pictures and images, that we have collected over the years, up on the main facing wall - may as well add to the busyness! I am quite pleased with the result so far...it may change.....we shall see.
