Illustration work

Image
My illustration in Australia Elle recent editorial work private and editorial illustration work As an illustrator it is lovely to be able to do my own work and I am very grateful that I can sell that through Sweet William . I also freelance as an illustrator and have a web site for my illustration work here . I enjoy the challenge of a client brief and being allowed to interpret a story in my own style. I was very chuffed when Elle Australia contacted me recently to do a little illustration in their brand new fashion mag! (Berry image above) I  also currently have work in Melbourne's Child and I am busy working on a very exciting cook/lifestyle book...busy times!

Brand New Paper Packs

Image
Our lovely paper packs - can be found in our  etsy store We have brand new wonderful Paper Packs all ready to go in our etsy store . Our love for vintage paper runs long and deep. Here at Sweet William we are endlessly rummaging through second hand book shops, markets, thrift shops, charity shops, garage sales - always on the search for beautiful old treasures that no one loves. Then we transform our finds into these exciting packages - filled to the brim with paper goodness, ready for you to make what ever you want with them - cards, scrapbooks, collage, artwork. We are passionate about these packs and love the idea of sharing our sometimes obsessive passion with other paper lovers. Each Sweet William mixed paper pack is an intriguing collection of vintage ephemera and papers, which will include at least 25 pieces of : lovely old children's book images, postage stamps, illustrations, old playing cards, postcards, fine papers, labels, vintage wall paper, paper ...

Mad for Pastels and Gold at the moment!

Image
Sweet William is in the process of setting up for our next big market season! It is a very busy time from now up until Christmas. We will be at the following markets: Finders Keepers - 4th/5th October-  Melbourne Renegade Craft Fair - 9/10th November - London Markit@Fedsqaure - 24th November - Melbourne Magnolia Square - 28-30 November - Melbourne Big Design Market - 6-8 December - Melbourne And there may be more - there is one in Ireland too (need Shelley to add her dates). We start each new market season with a brand new stall set up, which is great fun to work on. At the moment I am being very taken by the colour scheme of gold with pastels. I am loving a bit of shimmery gold set against a flat pastel colour. I have been collecting images in Pinterest and will start putting it all together soon. Here are some images from my ideas Pinterest board (all links to images in Pinterest ). Enjoy!

City Mob feature in South Africa

Image
We are very excited about   City Mob  (based in South Africa) for featuring Sweet William and offering a wide range of our prints as A2 size posters at a brilliant price! Wahoo, largest size we have ever had our images printed - hurry, on sale for 10 days only! My sister and I are from South Africa originally and so it was always our wish to be able to sell our work in our homeland. This was made possible by my sister in law who lives in CapeTown, who owns a small creative business called Fronella Design Delights   and who now distributes our range in South Africa. We are also very excited about the fact that a percentage of all these sales go to a South African children's charity called True North -   Little Too Much . Very happy with all of that!

Brilliant new price on A3 posters!

We are super duper excited about our A3 size posters ! These are of original pen and ink drawing done by myself, Paula Mills. The actual artwork measures 420mm x 297mm.(16.5x11.7 inches) and fits perfectly into the Ikea Ribba 40x50 cm frame plus mount (as pictured in first shot). There are six designs to choose from in the poster range .  We do a bigger print run on the posters therefore we are able to offer them at a brilliant price! YAY!

Miniature Milo the Sailor Boy

Image
Miniature Milo the sailor boy, available here Shelley and I only have girls, I have three, Shelley has two. This makes it tricky for us to come up with cute Sweet William products for boys but I think you will agree this one ticks all cuteness factors! Meet little Milo the Sailor boy . Now available in our etsy shop. Milo is a tiny little pocket doll.  He lives in a matchbox ship with his pet cockatoo. He dreams about all his wonderful adventures on the high seas, visiting foreign lands and making new friends. He is hand stitched on to felt, slightly stuffed and sits neatly in his little matchbox home.  MIlo is friends with miniature Camille.  The matchbox measures approximately 2 inches. There is a drawing of a ship on the front and an illustration of a wave on the back. All illustrations done by me, Paula Mills.

Renegade Craft Fair

Image
Renegade Craft Fair  at the Truman - London Now that I am living in Ireland, Paula and I decided that we should take Sweet William on a whole new adventure and apply for the awesome  Renegade Craft Fair  - which is held in several parts of the US and in London.  Part of me was thinking "no way - crazy!" and another part of me was holding my breath and really excited to get into this renowned market.  Well YAHOO!  Just found out we have been accepted and oh boy - big work to be done to prepare!  Any tips for a renegade newbie? x Shelley
